Program Overview

While every training is unique, the curriculum Beverley designed for Be Yoga, now being utilized as part of the basis of the current Yoga Works trainings, is as follows.
200-Hour Certification

The 200-hour program consists of 160 hours in contact with Senior Teachers and 40 hours of independent study and practice. The program is offered in two different formats: a 4-Week Intensive (Monday-Friday, 8-10 hours a day) and a 12-Week Training (Friday nights and weekends).

200-Hour Curriculum
Sessions will cover a range of subjects, including:

  1. Asana
  2. Anatomy and Physiology
  3. Injury Management and Principles of Alignment
  4. Pranayama and Anatomy of the Breathing Body
  5. Meditation
  6. The Art of Teaching
  7. Yoga Philosophy, the Yoga Sutras and Tantra
  8. Historical Overview and Understanding of Yogic Tradition
  9. Basic Principles of Ayurveda
  10. Yoga for Special Populations (including beginners, restorative yoga and prenatal yoga)
300-Hour Advanced Certification

The 300-hour program is for those individuals who are serious about pursuing a career as a yoga teacher. Study and practice takes place throughout a 12-month period. It is Beverley’s belief that yoga teachers should have a minimum of 500 hours of training to teach yoga.

300-Hour Curriculum

Sessions will cover a range of subjects, including:

  1. Advanced Asana, Pranayama, Ayurveda and Meditation
  2. Spotting and Hands-On Adjustments
  3. Yoga Philosophy, Sanskrit, the Yoga Sutras, the Hatha Yoga Pradipika and Tantra
  4. Advanced Anatomy and Injury Management
  5. Supervised Teaching and Mentoring
  6. Teaching Private Yoga Sessions
  7. The Business of Being a Yoga Teacher
  8. Assisting senior teachers and national workshop presenters
Guest Lecturers
Beverley’s trainings generally include a range of nationally-known presenters who are experts in a range of yoga-related fields, including asana, philosophy, Sanskrit, breath and anatomy. Previous lecturers and presenters have included: Yogiraj Alan Finger, Mark Whitwell, Bruce Neill, Ph.D., Leslie Kaminoff, Pratima Raichur, Scott Gerson, M.D., Jeff Migdow, M.D., Wendy Chavkin, M.D., Carrie Parker Gastelu, Vyass Houston, Paul JJ Alix and Andy Sugerman.
